Any chance of a public holiday and the Thais are at the front of the queue. The recent arrival of 2012, saw death and destruction on a grand scale. The Western Xmas and New Year brought with it 335 deaths, nearly 4000 injured in more than 3000 accidents over the seven days. First Sunday in the New Year saw a gathering of the Gumshoe Club for roast lamb at the Chill Bar. Would the gussetry be there, was the chef awake and would the place even be open? Happily, it was a full house and the lamb, both in quantity and quality was well up to scratch.
